Osaka is Japan's second largest metropolitan area after Tokyo. It has been the economic powerhouse of the Kansai region. Osaka is nicknamed "Japan's kitchen" and is known amongst the Japanese people as the city of gastronomy. For us, as a muslim, is it safe enough for us to eat everything in "Japan's kitchen"? Or we better to keep off from food we don't really know well about the ingredients, etc. Unfortunately, it might be true because I can say most of the famous foods are contained pork,lard, mirin in the soup usually, or even the animals (beef or chicken) slaughtered without mentioning the Name of Allah upon them. 

But, don't worry! There are so many HALAL restaurant in Osaka. Furthermore Japan now has become more Muslim friendly country. There're so many ways to enjoy Osaka.. Let's check it out....

1. Osaka Castle　大阪城

You probably can find a brief history about Osaka Castle and every single detail about it from wikipedia or other site. So instead of explaining about that,  I'll tak about Osaka Castle just from my perspective  at the first place.

Osaka Castle is very crowded especially in the weekend. Sometimes even it's on weekdays, still there are so many tourists there. Osaka Castle is very easy to reach by train and if you just want to stroll around, take a picture with the big Castle just like what I did, you don't need to pay for anything. You're lucky if you go to Osaka Castle when there is a summer, new year, or any other festival. There will be so many stalls who sell traditional Japanese food, people do some attractions, beautiful fireworks and illumitation in the night, etc. However, once again...it's so much crowded...

The picture below was took around 7 a.m in the morning (Not so much people, right!). In addition, Osaka Castle area is a very big and nice park to do morning jog or excercise.

2. Tempozan Ferris Wheel 観覧車

The Tempozan Ferris Wheel is the Osaka's largest. It offers far-reaching, panoramic views of the bay area and the city's skyscrapers beyond from a height of 112.5 meters. It takes approximately 15 mins to finish one rotation inside the car. Basically there're 2 types of cars, the first is a transparant glass door car and the other just a normal car. Even though I rode the ferris wheel twice yet I never tried the glass-door once due to its high number of queue (I don't like waiting on the line).

3. Get on Santa Maria Cruise Ship

One of the most exciting trips I took in Osaka is on the Bay Cruise Osaka Santa Maria, which is a replica of the sailing ship in which Columbus discovered.  It is 45 minutes excursion cruise around the bay of Osaka, starting from Tempozan Harbour Village. The pirate style ship houses indoors restaurant and also an exhibition below.

REVISIT? Yes! But it's little bit costly for one ride so it's better you have an Osaka's sightseeing One Day Pass Card (it will cost you no charge for both entering inside some designated tourism objects or riding trains/subways around Osaka. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

Meneladani Imam Syafi'i

Imam Syafi'i berkata, kehebatan seseorang terletak pada 3 perkara:

1. Kemampuan menyembunyikan kemelaratan, sehingga orang lain menyangkamu berkecukupan karena kamu tidak pernah meminta.

2. Kemampuan menyembunyikan amarah, sehingga orang mengiramu merasa ridha.

3. Kemampuan menyembunyikan kesusahan, sehingga orang lain mengiramu merasa senang.

Imam syafi’i adalah salah satu dari empat imam madzhab, nama aslinya adalah Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Idris As Syafi’i.

Lahir di gaza, palestina pada tahun 150 hijriah dan masih memiliki jalur nassab dengan Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wassallam. Ayah imam syafi’i memiliki jalur nassab yang bertemu dengan nassab Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wassallam di ‘Abdu Manaf bin Qushay (kakek ketiga rasulullah) dan ibunya masih merupakan cicit Ali bin Abi Thalib r.a.

Semenjak usia 9 tahun, beliau sudah bisa menghafal (hafidz) al-quran 30 juz. Setahun kemudian beliau menghafal 1.720 hadis karangan imam malik dalam kitab Al Muwatha’.

Imam syafi’i memiliki kecerdasan yang tinggi bahkan ketika beliau masih berumur 15 tahun beliau sudah dipercaya untuk bisa memberikan fatwa di kota mekah.

Semakin banyaknya ilmu yang dimiliki Imam Syafi’i tidak membuat ia lantas sombong. Namun sebaliknya, dia semakin merendah, semakin tawadhu, dan semakin kuat imanya karena semakin mengenal kebesaran Tuhannya.

Prilakunya pun semakin berwibawa, semakin bijaksana, semakin cerdas, dan semakin tawadhu atas dasar sifat inilah imam syafi’i tidak pernah putus untuk menuntut ilmu.

Perkataan-perkataan Imam Syafi’i tidak pernah mengandung kata-kata kebatilan. Melainkan sebaliknya, kata-kata yang keluar tersyirat banyak makna, kewibawaan, kebijaksaan, dan kebaikan untuk umat islam di dunia.

PIMNAS 29 - Kontingen Universitas Indonesia PKM-Karsa Cipta

8-12 Agustus 2016

Merupakan hari yang cukup bersejarah bagi saya. Pekan tersebut merupakan pekan diadakannya PIMNAS yang ke-29 di Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), sebagai tuan rumah tahun ini. Awalnya saya benar-benar tidak menyangka jika alat kami yang kami beri nama RTTS (Real-Time Telemonitoring System) dapat melaju ke PIMNAS. Pasalnya, saat monitoring evaluasi external terakhir, saya berhalangan hadir dan tim saya hanya diwakili oleh 3 orang teman saya.

Sebenarnya, pengumuman dari DIKTI tentang siapa saja yang berhak melangkah ke PIMNAS baru dipublikasikan seminggu sebelum PIMNAS tersebut dilaksanakan. Alhasil kalang kabut lah kita. Rekan saya yang berperan sebagai software-hardware-engineer sekaligus pencetus ide ini sudah bekerja dan harus menghabiskan waktunya setiap hari di kantor. Kami pun hanya bisa mengerjakan bersama di malam hari. Setiap malam akhirnya kami habiskan untuk mengerjakan alat, membuat web, poster, menyusun laporan akhir, mengorganisir powerpoint, dll. Di pagi harinya kami biasa melakukan drilling presentasi dengan dosen di UI. Lelah memang, terlebih ini kali pertamanya bagi kami mengikuti ajang karya tulis ilmiah (apalagi ini tingkat Nasional dan nama baik UI).

Sekarang, marilah kita tela'ah lebih lanjut selama sepekan, kompetisi ilmiah tersebut berlangsung.

8 Agustus 2016

Hari pertama PIMNAS. Kontingen UI berangkat dari rektorat UI, dan saya menjadi orang yang paling ditunggu (read: paling telat datengnya hihi). Jadi, semalaman saya dan tim menginap di kampus untuk menyelesaikan alat, ppt, dll. Alhasil kami baru bisa kembali ke kos pada pukul 4.00 pagi (dalam kondisi belum tidur seharian). Saat itu juga saya mulai tidur~ dan hasilnya kesiangan. /oke skip/.
Sesampainya kami di IPB, ternyata kontingen UI terbilang sangat tidak prepare (kelompok saya). Kami tidak membawa print out registrasi, foto diri, dll... Alhasil, paniklah kami. Saat itu saya kira, jika telah melakukan semua registrasi online, maka tidak perlu lagi repot-repot mencetak formulir dan semua dokumen yang telah kami upload (masukan juga nih buat panitianya).

9 Agustus 2016

Poster Presentation Day! Hari ini merupakan hari di mana penilaian terhadap poster dilakukan. Hanya ada satu orang yang boleh menjaga booth poster. Terdapat tiga orang juri yang bertugas memberi penilaian.

Setelah presentasi poster, siangnya akan langsung diadakan penilaian presentasi terhadap karya tulis. Kelompok yang maju ke depan ditentukan berdasarkan undian yang dilaksanakan saat itu juga. Akan tetapi tim kami belum kebagian maju pada hari itu.

Alhamdulillah hari itu berjalan lancar.

10 Agustus 2016

Presentation day! Hari ini kami maju melakukan presentasi. Awalnya saya sangat nerves, karena kelompok yang lain bagus-bagus presentasinya menurut saya. Tapi, sekarang bukan saatnya untuk minder! Ini adalah waktu yang tepat untuk menunjukkan kemampuan kami tim dari UI, mengerahkan segala yang kami punya, mengasah ide dan otak untuk menggali pengetahuan untuk menjawab semua pertanyaan dewan juri.

Alhamdulillah, saat presentasi selesai, lega sekali. Rasanya kami telah melakukan yang terbaik yang dapat kami lakukan :)

Pengumuman Juara Poster

Sehabis maghrib, kami bersiap menuju GGW IPB untuk menyaksikan penutupan PIMNAS sekaligus pemberian penghargaan kepada juara. Saat itu banyak anak-anak BEM yang datang jadi supporter. Semakin deg-degan, takut kalau kami nanti mengecewakan. Satu persatu acara penutupan pun di mulai. Tibalah saat pembacaan peraih medali. Diawali dengan peraih medali kategori Poster untuk PKM-GT. Jujur, saya menaruh harapan yang sangat besar untuk kategori poster ini. KArena saya rasa, di kelas para presenter nya bagus-bagus, bombastis, dan sangat meyakinkan (walaupun sebenarnya menurut saya pribadi alatnya biasa saja mereka :peace :v). Dari mulai awal sampai akhir dibacakannya pengumuman medali untuk kategori poster, kontingen UI tidak juga ada yang berhasil menyabet medali. Sampai tibalah waktu PKM-KC Kelas 4 diumumkan terakhir. Saya sangat deg-degan karena saya pikir hanya inilah harapan kami. Akan tetapi, kami belum diizinkan menang untuk kategori poster. Sudah lemas sih sebenarnya, tidak berharap pada presentasi.

Pengumuman Juara Presentasi

Universitas lain telah banyak disebutkan mendapat medali dan maju ke podium. Saat itu saya sudah pesimis. Akan tetapi tiba-tiba nama UI diumumkan sebagai peraih medali perunggu untuk PKM-P dan emas untuk PKM-M. Saat itu saya sangat bahagia, walaupun PKM-KC belum diumumkan. SEtelahnya, tiba saatnya diumumkan mengenai PKM-KC, dari kelas 1-2-3 Tim UI belum beruntung mendapat medali. Sampai akhirnya diumumkan untuk kelas terakhir dan sekaligus menutup acara pemberian medali, tim kami, RTTS dari Universitas Indonesia dipanggil sebagai peraih medali perunggu. Alhamdulillah, puji syukur kehadirat Allah SWT dengan segala karunia-Nya.

Final Project | Skripsi | Final Year Student

Hello minna-san... it's been a long time since I visited my own blog :(
One of the reason is because I was so busy with academics stuff, and the other reason is because it was little bit hard to find a proper internet connection, unlike in Japan.

Well, talking about final project.. It is a compulsory project that every final year student should do. And I took it during my 7th semester XD

Was it tough?  YES, IT IS
However, there's nothing you can't endure. It's just the matter of how much perseverance that you could give for something.

Actually, I was so lucky to have my project done while I studied in Japan backthen. So, in indonesia I only had to write it down into a booklet of "skripsi book". I took 4 months to complete it and submit it in university library...

Here it is.. 4th January 2016, I was succesfully defending my final project defense in front of 3 lecturers in Electrical Engineering Department, Universitas Indonesia. So happy, but still long way to go.

International Conference | Trip to BANDUNG

--Part One--

The Conference

So, this post is basically about my experience when I had an international conference about optics in Bandung, West Java. My paper was selected to be presented on ICACOMIT (International Conference on Automation, Cognitive Science, Optics, Micro Electro-Mechanical System, and Information Technology).

The event date was on 29-30 October 2015. Almost all of the presenter are holding a bachelor degree already. But I still had my confidence, of course. The venue was in Hotel Aston Tropicana BANDUNG, but I chose to stay in my high school friend's rent house. Yeah, my friend is studying in Institute Technology of Bandung, West Java. 

Actually that was my first time coming to Bandung.. I think Bandung is nice city. So many beautiful places, delicious foods, etc. Nevertheless the traffic jam is still a problem. And also public transportation is not so supportive, accessible, and understandable enough for a tourist like me :( I went around Bandung city by walk because I didn't know the route of "angkot", and of course I didn't want to spend much money for getting into cab hihihi.
